When it comes to picking their favorite album covers, the British are just full of national pride. Because in a recent poll of the Most Iconic Album Covers of All Time, the Top 10 vote-getters were all British artists.
The top spot went to JOY DIVISION, for their "Unknown Pleasures" album. The cover features a picture the band found in an astronomy encyclopedia. It represents 100 pulses from the remnant of a collapsed star.
The list also contains obvious choices, like THE BEATLES' "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" and "Abbey Road" . . . as well as LED ZEPPELIN'S "Houses of the Holy".
Then there's stuff you've probably never seen . . . or even heard of . . . like PAUL WELLER'S "Stanley Road". Anyway, here's the Top 10 . . .
#10.) The Sex Pistols - "Never Mind the Bollocks"

#9.) Paul Weller - "Stanley Road"

#7.) David Bowie - "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust"

#7.) Pink Floyd - "The Dark Side of the Moon"

#6.) The Beatles - "Abbey Road"

#5.) Led Zeppelin - "Houses of the Holy"

#4.) The Smiths - "Meat Is Murder"

#3.) The Beatles - "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"

#2.) The Stone Roses - "The Stone Roses"

#1.) Joy Division - "Unknown Pleasures"
