How long have we been told that "the flying car" was just around the corner? Remember back in the 50's everyone said we would have our own flying car by the year 2000. WELL WHERE IS IT??!!
Now it looks like it is almost here! Here's the story:
The push toward flying cars took a big step forward this week when a company called Moller International, in Davis, in Northern California, started manufacturing parts for its "Jetsons"-style personal flying pods.
These pods look pretty close to what GEORGE JETSON used to drive. . . or what we think ALIENS would drive. . . they're circular, you sit in the center, and THEY FLY.
The pods get up to 10 feet off the ground. . . they can top out at 50 miles-per-hour. . . and they take off and land vertically, like helicopters. According to the company, quote, "It's not a hovercraft, although its operation is just as easy. You can speed over rocks, swamps, fences or log-infested waterways with ease because you're not limited by the surface." Estimated retail price will be about $90,000.
