Billy Joel rocked the Qwest Center Omaha Saturday night....I think he surprised a few people when he invited roadie Chainsaw to the stage to sing AC/DC's "Highway to Hell"! He's pretty good....and Billy rocks on guitar.

HUGH GRANT ATTACKS PAPARAZZI WITH BAKED BEANS!

HUGH GRANT got arrested the other day. . . on a charge of ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY SIDE DISH.

Police detained Hugh for questioning after he threw a tub of BAKED BEANS at paparazzi scumbag Ian Whittaker, outside Hugh's London-area home. Hugh also allegedly kicked the guy and kneed him in the groin.

Whittaker says he was in the neighborhood to get shots of Hugh's ex-girlfriend, LIZ HURLEY, who lives on the same street. When Hugh pulled up, Whittaker asked him if he would smile for some pictures.

That's when Whittaker says Hugh, quote, "kicked me hard three or four times and then kneed me in the groin." Then, Hugh picked up a Tupperware-style container of beans and chucked them at Whittaker.

If THAT wasn't enough, Whittaker says he informed Hugh he had two children, and Hugh told him, quote, "I hope they die of (effing) cancer."

If you've ever wondered what it might look like if a girl played BOB DYLAN in a movie, the answer is. . . actually, A LOT LIKE BOB DYLAN. Here's a picture of CATE BLANCHETT as Dylan in the upcoming movie, "I'm Not There"

The movie is a less-than-literal telling of Dylan's life story, featuring several actors playing him at different points in his life. Richard Gere, Christian Bale and Heath Ledger are among them. It's coming out in September.

COLORADO STATE PLAYER HITS A 4-YEAR-OLD!

HAVE YOU SEEN THIS VIDEO!!!! As a Colorado State wide receiver caught a touchdown pass in the end zone, he collided with a 4-year-old boy playing on the sidelines. The boy sustained a minor injury but needed 30 stitches. The boy is fine and will have one hell of a good story to tell his friends when he is older.

DUMBEST LETTER TO THE EDITOR EVER!

Workforce member Dave sent us a copy of a letter to the editor from the April 16th edition of the "Arkansas Democrat Gazette". . . and we can't BELIEVE it's real. . . mostly, because it's hard to believe that there's someone THIS stupid out there.


But, apparently, this letter to the editor is for real. It comes from Connie M. Meskimen of Hot Springs, Arkansas. . . who I'm sure is a lovely woman. . . she just doesn't quite understand the relationship between the time she sees on the clock and weather.


She wrote the paper last week to say, quote, "You may have noticed that March was particularly hot. . . this should come as no surprise to any reasonable person.


"As you know, Daylight Savings Time started almost a month early this year. You would think that members of Congress would have considered the warming effect that an extra hour of daylight would have on our climate. (--Think about THAT for a second. . .)

Every month my neighbors and I get together for our "Dump of the Month" dinner club. Each month a new couple chooses the dive restaurant we go to. So far we have had nothing but the best service and best food from some of the dive-iest places in the metro area. This month we hit The Lodge Cafe and Bar in Bellevue. What a great place! Inexpensive food, strong drinks and Carol the owner was awesome. They EVEN had Karaoke.

POOL LADDER RECALL WE TOLD YOU ABOUT

Here's the information on the pool ladder recall that Mary Nelson told you about this morning.

Intex Recreation Corp. is recalling nearly half a million above-ground pool ladders because of a fall hazard.

The recall includes "Intex," "Easy Set" and "Sand N Sun" ladders. The ladders' plastic steps can be assembled backward on the support brackets. If this happens, the ladder steps can break and the user can fall.

Intex has received 172 reports of steps breaking during use. There were 127 reports of injuries, including six leg lacerations requiring up to 21 stitches, five reports of bone fractures, two back injuries, two reports of torn ligaments, eight sprained ankles, and other minor injuries.

Consumers should immediately stop using the ladders and contact Intex to obtain information about how to obtain a free replacement ladder.

WEST VIRGINIA MISPELLED ON THE NIT CHAMPIONSHIP T-SHIRTS

After the West Virginia Mountaineers beat Clemson to win the men's basketball NIT last Thursday night, the T-shirts they were handed had a misspelling. . . which said, "West VIRGINA". (--No "i" before the "a".)


None of the players seemed to notice (insert West Virginia literacy joke here) and they paraded around the court, celebrating in the shirts.


The shirts were printed and provided by the NIT. They haven't said if any of the shirts made it into stores, or if they were just for the postgame celebration. By the way, there aren't any for sale on eBay...YET.
