WHAT I DID ON MY SUMMER VACATION....by Steve King

Just like school.....here's what I did on my summer vacation. OK, it was really just a week off, but that's as close as we get as adults so cut me some slack please!

Here's a picture of me being put into the tube at Lakeside Hospital for my MRI. I'm having some back problems and my Doctor wanted to see what was going on.....and of course give me something really memorable for my vacation.
Look how comfy I am?!?

Here's a picture of the cake that I made for my son Riley's 7th birthday. Yes, I said I made the cake....please don't make fun of it....it was the best I could do after spending the afternoon in a MRI tube. By the way, if I every make a cake with BLACK icing....kill me! I know my wife will....

We went to Adventure Land on my summer vacation....because Des Monies is lovely this time of year. And where better to go if you back is bothering you....an amusement park! Large roller coasters and lots of walking....perfect.
Here's Riley and me on the log flume.

....and of course no vacation would be complete without me covered with oil and grease in my garage. Here I am working on my '66 Cutlass. If you look behind me it looks like I should have been focused on CLEANING the garage...not working in it.

Overall, it was a pretty nice week off.....I'm just glad to be back!

HARRY POTTER BOOK REVIEW

The New York Times might be in a little bit of trouble! Somehow they received a early copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and they have published a review with a few spoilers in it. J.K. Rowling let everyone know that two major characters die in the book, but the New York Times reports that at least six die in the book.

J.K. Rowling and her publisher says no one should have the book, including media outlets, until Saturday morning at 12:01am.

You can read the review HERE!

WORKFORCE...PLEASE HELP OUT A FRIEND OF MINE!

A friend of mine is in a band competition called "Last Band Standing" and if they are in the top six there is a chance they will go out on the national Lollapalooza tour. Currently they are 9th in the competition and they need all the votes they can get.

Now they don't play The Eagles, Bob Seger or Three Dog Night like we do, but they are a great band called Helicopters. They play kind of club/dance/electronic music.

If you have a minute and find it in your heart to help out a buddy of mine (Brian is the guy on the right in the above photo) please vote for them.

BETALLICA!

What do you get when you cross The Beatles and Metallica? Why, Beatallica of course! The band mixes Beatle and Metallica tunes and titles with their own lyrics. Even the names of the bandmembers are a fusion of the two famous acts. There’s Jaymz Lennfield, Grg Hammettson, Kliff McBurtney and Ringo Larz. Well before their first album Sgt. Hetfield’s Motorbreath Pub Band, a few of the guys crossed the Beatles and Metallica as a joke for a contest. Here's the website for this "band" that Steve and Mary talked about - BETALLICA
